Mission Support

Local

        Geneseo Marriage and Family Counseling

GMFCS was founded in 1974 by the Rev. Dr. Donald Stewart, then pastor of First Presbyterian Church, to provide affordable, professional counseling to anyone in need. The agency's main focus is to provide quality counseling to individuals, couples and families for multiple issues that may be affecting their lives and to see what may be done to resolve them.

FPC has provided office space, secretarial services, board leadership and additional funding since its founding.

        Geneseo Food Pantry

The Christian mission of the Geneseo Food Pantry is to provide food, clothing and short-term emergency assistance for families and individuals residing in Geneseo (61254) or Atkinson (61235) zip code areas.  The mission includes responding to local needs and assisting in the development and maintenance of individuals and families to enable them to be functional, effective and healthy.

FPC provided space for the Pantry from 1983 until 1989 when it moved into its current space, and has provided board membership, additional funding, and monthly gifts of food and supplies.  Recently, we have done an annual contest between men and women to see who would donate the most food and staple item.

             One Great Hour of Sharing

Theme: Sharing resources, changing lives  Watch the video

Since 1949 Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with those in need. Generous gifts assist those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and help build strong communities through the self-development of people.

Christmas Joy OfferingTheme: Giving back to those who have given so much

Whether providing financial assistance to current and former church workers and their families or enabling deserving students to attend Presbyterian-related racial ethnic colleges and schools, generous gifts to the Christmas Joy Offering will bring Good News of Great Joy to the poor in circumstance or spirit.

Members at FPC contribute during the Advent and Christmas season.
